Checking and Testing Installations Course

IMPORTANT: You MUST be an unrestricted WA electrical licence holder to complete this course.

Learning Outcomes

  • General Legislation Requirements
  • MEN earthing systems and their relationship with testing procedures
  • Understanding how and why electric shocks occur
  • RCD operation and fault-finding, including nuisance tripping
  • RCD cascading and its importance
  • Loop Impedance theory, calculations, and practical experiments
  • Insulation Resistance, Loop Impedance, and Line Impedance testing
  • Theory testing and practical demonstrations

Course Materials

Electrical contractors are required to refer to the appropriate Standards when undertaking licensable work. Students will have electronic access to the following Standards during classroom sessions.

Students are required to bring their own notebook and pen.

Language, Literacy & Numeracy Requirement (LLN)

Participants must have general (Level 2) language, literacy, numeracy, and physical capabilities to meet the performance criteria of this unit. Please contact the office if you have any concerns.
